The finest knives suitable for everyday use are made primarily from Damascus steel that he folds himself. The knives are given a special character not only by the blacksmith's creativity, but also by the antiquarian spindle press, which shapes the glowing iron with up to 30 tons of pressure. Each piece is unique. Prefabricated blanks or industrial handles are out of the question for the blacksmith. The various types of steel are carefully combined and processed into blade shapes that are second to none. The knife maker uses wood, antlers and horn from all over the world as handle materials. In addition, "upcycling" is taken to a new level in this small barn workshop. For example, old, battered humpback knives are fitted with new olive wood handles and given a new lease of life. The blacksmith provides insights into his workshop. He heats up the forge and demonstrates various techniques, including the screw press. Coffee and cake are served.

In a small barn workshop in the Mecklenburg town of Cammin, not far from the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Hornhecht knife manufactory creates exceptional knives with character. Antiquarian spindle press and fine handle material from all over the world
An antiquarian screw press, which uses up to 30 tons of pressure to shape the red-hot iron, occupies a special place in the workshop. Lehmann carefully selects wood, antlers and horn materials from all over the world for the handles. Upcycling also plays an important role: old, battered humpback knives, for example, are given new olive wood handles, giving them a second chance.
Workshop tour with forging demonstration and coffee
Richard Lehmann opens his workshop to visitors, heats up the forge and demonstrates various forging techniques, including the impressive screw press. The demonstration is followed by coffee and cake - an experience that can be wonderfully combined with a trip along the Mecklenburg Baltic coast between Rostock, Stralsund and Fischland-Darß-Zingst
