Wohlenberger Wiek surf spot

Wohlenberger Wiek surf spot
The Wohlenberger Wiek is largely a nature reserve. Nevertheless, you can really let off steam here with kites and sails. The municipality has set up a surf zone especially for this purpose. The sheltered location makes the Wohlenberger Wiek a flawless flat-water playground when the wind blows from west to northeast. Wohlenberger Wiek is part of the Bay of Wismar and is partly under strict nature protection. Thanks to the surf zone set up especially for windsurfers and kiters, this spot is nevertheless interesting for water sports enthusiasts. The sheltered location and the large standing area offer very good conditions for both beginners and professionals. Due to the course of the shore, there is also a relatively large wind radius from southwest to east. In the high season, however, many bathers are to be expected, especially in the southern part of the bay, which is why consideration must be shown. An alternative entry point is on the eastern shore near the campsite. There is also a surf school with an extensive training program and rental facilities. The spot is suitable for wind directions from W to NE. Facilities: Toilets (at the end of Wohlenberg or at the end of the 40 zone or the parking lot) Offer of the surf school - windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing lessons Parking facilities

Surf spot Wohlenberger Wiek - flat water spot on the Baltic Sea

The Wohlenberger Wiek is located on the Baltic coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, nestled in the Bay of Wismar not far from the Hanseatic city of Wismar. Although large parts of the water are strictly protected, a designated surf zone has been set up for kiters and windsurfers. The Wohlenberger Wiek surf spot is therefore a legally usable and well-developed area directly on the Baltic Sea.

Ideal conditions for beginners and experienced kiters

The sheltered location of the bay ensures calm shallow water and a generous standing area - ideal conditions for both beginners and advanced water sports enthusiasts. The course of the shore results in a wide wind radius from southwest to east, but wind directions from west to northeast are particularly recommended. In the high season, bathers are to be expected, especially in the southern part of the bay, and should be taken into consideration.
