Due to its sheltered location, shallow water enthusiasts will find fantastic conditions in Ückeritz. With a 250-metre wide standing area, the spot is also perfect for beginners. You can hire equipment at the water sports school - and get a warm shower. South to north-west winds work best, giving the wind a clear path.
North and South Usedom are connected by an approximately 10-kilometre-long headland, on which the Ückeritz spot is located between the Achterwasser and the Baltic Sea. Ückeritz offers a very extensive standing area and therefore ideal conditions for learning new tricks, among other things. Water sports enthusiasts can hire equipment, take courses and even enjoy a hot shower at the sailing, surfing and kitesurfing school. However, the space available on land and at the entry point is somewhat limited, especially on good windy days. There is an alternative spot a little further south at the Stagnitz campsite. Access to this spot is directly from the campsite via small niches in the reed belt. Otherwise, the conditions there are similar to those at the surf school. The spot is suitable for wind directions from S to NW.

Surf spot Ückeritz on the Baltic Sea - flat water on Usedom
The Ückeritz surf spot is located on the narrow headland that connects North and South Usedom - sandwiched between the Achterwasser and the open Baltic Sea. This sheltered location in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern makes the spot one of the island's most popular shallow water spots. It works best with wind directions from south to northwest, when the wind has a clear path.
Extensive standing area for beginners and advanced surfers
With a 250-metre-wide standing area, Ückeritz offers ideal conditions for learning new tricks or taking your first steps in windsurfing and kitesurfing. Equipment can be hired from the on-site sailing, surfing and kitesurfing school, and a hot shower is available after the session. Toilets, a waste disposal station and parking facilities are also available (daily fee €3). On busy windy days, space at the entrance can be a little tight.
Away spot at the Stagnitz campsite
Those looking for more peace and quiet will find an alternative spot with similar conditions a little further south at the Stagnitz campsite. Access is directly from the campsite via small niches in the reed belt. Here, too, south to north-west are the best wind directions
