Schaprode surf spot
Surf spot Schaprode: flat water paradise for windsurfers on the Baltic Sea
The Schaprode surf spot is located in the ferry town of the same name on the west coast of the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is considered a real cream spot among windsurfers. Perfect flat water and a generous standing area make it possible to develop your own riding style in almost ideal conditions. Optimal wind conditions prevail with wind directions from southwest to northwest.
Windsurfing in Schaprode: What beginners and advanced surfers should know
The standing area in Schaprode is big enough for beginners as well as experienced surfers. However, there are a few special features to bear in mind: There are occasional larger rocks under the surface of the water, which are only partially marked. There is also a channel not far from the shore that should be avoided at all costs. Kitesurfing is not permitted at the Schaprode spot for nature conservation reasons - the spot is reserved exclusively for windsurfers.
Surfing school, campsite and infrastructure at the spotThe campsite, which is located directly on the beach, offers the best access to the water. Toilets, showers and waste disposal facilities are available there. A small windsurfing school on site offers courses in windsurfing, canoeing and sailing. Parking facilities are also available. In high season, Schaprode is a popular starting point for excursions to the nearby island of Hiddensee.
Schaprode as a starting point: explore Rügen and Hiddensee
If you want to explore the region in addition to surfing, Schaprode is the ideal starting point. The ferries to the car-free island of Hiddensee depart from here. The Hanseatic city of Stralsund on the mainland and other highlights of Rügen's Baltic Sea coast are also within easy reach and well worth a detour.
