The stop is located in the center of the resort of Zislow. The area has been inhabited by Slavs since the 7th to 9th centuries. The Slavic Zislow castle rampart on the western shore of the Großer Pätschsee bears witness to this. Both Zislow itself and the district of Suckow were originally Slavic settlements. Zislow was first mentioned in documents in 1255 and Suckow in 1344. 1338 saw the first mention of the present-day settlement of Clippatendorpe. The landmark of Zislow is the village church, consecrated in 1749, which presents itself in the rare form of an octagonal half-timbered building (octagon) and was renovated in 1990. It now hosts readings and concerts during the season. From Zislow, you can walk to the nearby viewing tower. This is approx. 5 m high. You can reach it via a signposted nature trail and have a wonderful view of the church in the town of Plau and the lake.

Rundbus Plauer See stop 14 Zislow - a resort with history

Stop 14 on the Plauer See circular bus is located in the center of Zislow - a quiet resort town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, away from the well-known coastal resorts such as Rügen or Usedom, but no less charming. The history of the village dates back to the 7th to 9th centuries, when Slavic tribes settled in the area. The Slavic castle rampart on the western shore of the Großer Pätschsee still bears witness to this early past. Zislow was first mentioned in documents in 1255.

Octagonal half-timbered church - the landmark of Zislow

The heart of the village is the village church, consecrated in 1749, a rare octagonal half-timbered building - also known as an octagon. The unusual building was renovated in 1990 and now serves as a venue for readings and concerts during the summer season. Such characteristic village churches are typical of the cultural landscape of inland Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
