Path of Leisure & Knowledge - Hiking in the Goor Forest on the Baltic Sea

The Path of Leisure & Knowledge leads through the impressive Goor Forest on the island of Rügen, one of the most charming natural areas on the German Baltic Sea coast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Imposing old trees, historic burial mounds and sweeping views of a picturesque Baltic Sea bay make this hiking trail a special experience for nature lovers and those seeking peace and quiet alike.

Urban forest in the making - the Goor Forest under nature conservation

The Goor Forest is on its way to becoming a real primeval forest and is largely under the care of the Michael Succow Foundation for the Protection of Nature. Those who walk the trail are immersed in a forest landscape that is largely allowed to develop freely - a rare experience in Central Europe that deepens contact with nature and with oneself in a special way.

Guided hikes and independent exploration with accompanying brochure

The trail is freely accessible daily all year round and can be explored independently with an accompanying brochure, which is available for a nominal fee at the Hotel Badehaus Goor, among other places. If you would like a more in-depth introduction to the landscape history of the Goor Forest, you can take part in a guided hike with landscape ecologist Steffi Deickert - by prior registration and arrangement.
